Bleigieen_figures

Bleigiessen (pouring lead into cold water) is a German News Year Eve tradition where a person picks a small lead figure, places it on a heatproof spoon over a flame then melts the figure. It is then quickly placed in cold water where the melted lead takes on a different form. The shape is then interpreted to predict your luck for the coming year by referring to the packet's reference guide. Here are some examples: a bomb you will escape danger...and isn't that good to know! Eagle: you will profit in your job. I have what looks a swan or a bird good luck is coming my way!

Good-luck to you all for 2011!

I've never heard of it before. Indeed, yours looks like a duck/ goose/ swan flying.

You have to hold the piece of lead against the light. Then you have to turn it. The shadow is what is important. If you see something in the shadow, then you have to look for its meaning. Not the piece itself is important. Only the shadow. smilies/smiley.gif
